Day Two: What is that buzzing sound?

Bad idea bears.
Today we slept until noon, which was really only 9am our time, but given the time change and the travelling we were facking wiped.  It was too bad because we wanted to do a lot more exploring.
We headed out and were wandering around the University of Toronto area and I could hear what sounded like a Kawasaki Ninja whining off in the distance except it went on and on and on and then it dawned on me that the Indy was running so what we were hearing was the race in progress.
Wandered around Queen Street for a while.  I find Toronto so much more interesting than Vancouver.  Vancouver is chain restaurants, banality, up-tightness and safety.  Toronto is much more like New York, Boston or Montreal.  Tons of cool cafes, restaurants, shops, uneven sidewalks, older, established buildings.  I love simply just walking around here.
Cut through Eaton Centre and popped out at Yonge and Dundas which they are trying to turn into a New York Times Square Lite which is just such a joke.  I've been to NYC twice and the second time Michael made me to to Time Square just to say I'd been.  I stayed for about one minute.  Throngs of people were heading down there.  Why?  It's so terrible!
Went to the City Hall which is always an interesting building to see.  Lots of tourists there, but the open area is a bit of a fail.  Too much concrete, not enough greenery, a bit too brutalist.
Bye Rob Ford.  You were entertaining.
On our way back to our hotel we stopped into a Tim Hortons where one of the guests was in medical distress.  The staff there were dealing with it so adeptly that it took me a moment to realize that something was even going on.  In the interim I am ordering two iced coffees and four salted caramel Timbits and the price comes out higher than I am expecting but I pay it, while the woman who was initially helping me runs off to try and find Aspirin or something to give to the guy who is having trouble as advised by her coworker who is on 911.  Another guy takes over the till and calls out that there are some potato wedges that no one claims, and then he gives us our coffees and tells us the potato wedges our ours and I say I didn't order them.  He says "but she punched them in" and I said "I'm sorry: I didn't order potato wedges" so he gets a bit pissed and refunds me the $2.  Then the original woman who had been taking my order comes back from helping the guy in distress, has the potato wedge convo with her coworker and realizes she must have punched it in in error and profusely apologizes.  Like, the whole thing was surreal.  "Um, sorry I got your order wrong while I was trying to get medical help here in an expedient manner for one of our seriously ill patrons", right?
We leave, sucking down our iced coffees and popping Timbits into our pie-holes and see she gave us five, not four.  The first ambulance was pulling up just as we were heading out, with a second passing us within seconds.
Then we pass by a guy lying on the sidewalk outside the hospital, sleeping.
Love these people!  A great night.  Too bad we're not here longer.
Then we cross the street and see a guy in a motorized wheelchair.  He was missing both legs and one arm.
Are you having a good day today?  I bet the fuck now you are.
Saw the Ontario Parliament building and popped inside briefly before freshening up and heading to Michael's sister's place in Yorkville.  It was great to see her and her husband, their two boys, and another one of my nieces who came with her boyfriend and another friend.  Had a great barbeque, tons of food, lots of laughs.  Learned how to use Uber and got a free Uber ride home.  Suh-weet.  Fuck Vancouver and it's pro-taxi lobby.  Uber is the shit.
That is today's story and I ate too much.
