There is clearly not enough wine

This is our new PM.  Man, I love Canada.
So today the Blue Jays have to win game three against Kansas in order to stave off elimination.  Can they come back from a two game deficit for the second time in a row?  I love my Jays, but I also scored exceedingly in my Stats class.  They are in Toronto, thankfully, so that will bolster their odds.
The other thing, of course, is the election.
WHAT HAPPENS IF HARPER GETS IN AGAIN?
I actually have a friend who voted for Harper.  People at Michael's work are also voting Conservative.  A coworker of mine - that came here to escape the Sri Lankan civil war - is all like "I don't think I'll get a chance to fit it in".
If this is seriously the direction that our country is going, then I am really not feeling very patriotic about that.
Speaking about how awesome Canada is: spent a few hours with my mom at Vancouver General Hospital on Saturday night (she is now fine, and at home).  She was admitted around 7pm, and by the time Michael and I left arou
nd 10pm she had been given two blood test, two EKGs and had had a minor medical procedure performed.  For free.  The nursing staff were all kind, considerate and attentive.  I cannot imagine, oh, say, continuing along the Conservative route and starting to entertain the idea of privatized health care.
A definite highlight had to be the guy in ER that was tripping balls.  When he started to come down he apologized to all the nurses on the floor (who were all like "no problem, dude, we just need you to relax for a bit"), threw up on himself, and then explained how he had ingested a lot of mushrooms and had an experience that he had been reborn.
Cool!
I bet he voted Green.
And now to the gym to burn off some nervous energy.  Go Jays and Liberals!!!!

UPDATE: John Oliver's plea worked and not only is Harper out, but we have a Liberal majority government, and a sexy PM.  The Jays live to see... tomorrow.  And I bought lotto tickets today.  I never do that.

  1. Glad your mom is OK. I hate the politics of politics. The scare tactics, the promises that never come true, the badmouthing, back stabbing and lying. Makes me want to move to another country, but they probably have their own politics and I wouldn't fully understand the language. I didn't vote 4 years ago. Don't hate me if I vote conservative this year, I may not, but I won't vote liberal.

    1. If you do vote Conservative, who in the world would you vote for?

I hate the politics of politics too. I would last about a minute in office.

    2. It did get a lot of attention. I hope Harper saw it. And cried.

  3. That's the problem... Trump might be good at running the place like a business but he'd probably piss the rest of the world off, or he'd have all the women pissed off, then all the Gays pissed off, then someone else pissed off. I don't disagree with some of his ideas for immigration. Carson.... I like him, he proves you don't have to be an asshole to be in politics and he also has ideas on immigration. Carly... too many people are making a big deal about her business record. Who cares, she bounced back, that's what matters. The Donald did it, why won't he give her credit. I can't wait to see who ends up being the running mates. I'm ready for it to be over but mostly ready for Obama to be gone.

    1. We are definitely very apart on the political scale. I can't even look at Trump. Plus, I spend too much time on Gawker reading articles like this one. ;) http://gawker.com/dr-ben-carson-really-wants-you-to-know-he-stabbed-some-1739274912
