Talking about having enough to eat...

I do.  And I'll take a half dozen to go.
So it's done: the venue is booked; the photographer is booked; I have TWO dresses to wear on the special day.  And more importantly: everyone finally knows our game plan.
Yeah, we're getting hitched at Voodoo Doughnut (the magic is in the hole).
A fuss was kicked up.
People were perplexed.
We didn't relent.
No really: please tell me about the sanctity of marriage and throw in something about tradition and how people want to be a part of our big day.
No.  No one really wants to be a part of our big day.  Do you really get excited when you get a wedding invitation (okay, maybe if it's open bar)?  It's just another thing to attend and another gift to buy and they all go down the same: a church wedding; a three hour gap while they go take photos; a substandard meal in an blasé environment, and lots of jerks tapping wine glasses with spoons.
Oh, and do you get the presents back when they get divorced like half of them do?
I'm looking forward to getting hitched in the $17 dress I got at Winners this past weekend, with Michael wearing his grandfather's suspenders, and then eating doughnuts afterwards.
It's funny because it's irreverent.

  1. Impressive venue. Is that a chandelier I see in the photo? This place could give your photographer wonderful photo ops; I'm jealous. Are they closing the place down for the wedding, or will you have any number of "uninvited" guests popping in and out during the ceremony? Is the reception an open (coffee and soft drink) bar?

  2. Ha! I believe they will close the shop for about 20 minutes. They said that they would also provide witnesses, so I'm wondering if they're just going to grab random people or what. It all should be rather entertaining!

  3. You should watch My Big Fat American Gypsy Wedding on Netflix for inspiration.

I would totally come to your anti-wedding, that sounds like a blast. I think your first dance should be to Tootsie Roll.

The butterfly uh-oh that's old, let me see that tootsie roll.......

    1. I COULD watch that on Netflix, but I think I'll go to the gym.

It's only funny if you get married in a doughnut shop if you're skinny.

  4. You guys should feed each other donut after. Stack 8 donuts on top of each other for your cake...

    1. Oh we will. Our "package" such as it is, includes coffee and doughnuts for six people. I may give one to the photographer if she can make me look much more Jessica Alba than I already do.
