This is the guy that beat GSP( but not according to the judges). |
So, to echo Johny Hendricks: "Did you just watch the match I fought in?"
What the fuck?
For the first time ever we ordered PPV tonight and watched the GSP/Hendricks fight. Odds were on GSP, but he was rather soundly beaten.
Funnily enough: the belt went to GSP.
I got into UFC (surprisingly) a few years ago and dragged Michael into it with me. We were excited for tonight's fight as it was GSP - a Canadien - and it was the UFC's 20th anniversary, but after tonight's rather suspect scoring? It's clear this sport is rigged.
Either Georges St-Pierre had some kind of deal with the organization that he would put asses in seats and a bunch of people that were betting on him would win, or the scoring system which involves two people physically besting one another is too complex for me to comprehend.
And seriously? George starts making somewhat incoherent comments about "going away for a while" to deal with personal issues, right after he "wins" the match? Fail. What is this, the goddamn WWF?
My dad was a boxer, and I fight Michael a lot but I always tap out, so I'm going to go with "this shit was rigged".
Bummer.
I was kind of getting into the UFC and now it's evident that at least one of the judges was bought.
Hats off to Hendricks for a brilliant fight. He clearly won against GSP and the look on his face when they awarded the belt to St-Pierre said it all. As an athlete that trained very hard and clearly bested his much admired opponent, I can't imagine what he is feeling right now.
What a total rip off.
