Today we got up early and I had my first ever English breakfast (sans beans, however).
Then we did a hop on/hop off tour which took us to St. Paul's where I made my mom climb to the very top. There were a lot of crypts and whatnot to commemorate dead people that were either glorious, pious or rich or all of the above and basically was just as overwrought and as much as what Jesus would have wanted than the next cathedral, right?
Checked out the crown jewels and came to understand where the concept of "bling" comes from.
Again: absolutely what Jesus was all about.
Walked over the Tower Bridge to Southwark and checked out Hays Market there and their seawall, before hopping on a river cruise down to the Eye and doing a rotation on it for an exorbitant sum.
In short: "The exports of Libya are numerous in amount. One thing they export is corn, or as the Indians call it, "maize". Another famous Indian was "Crazy Horse". In conclusion, Libya is a land of contrast."
68 points for whoever gets that.
Jesus loves cathedrals! Still, you have to admit, they are pretty impressive buildings - how did you like the climb up St. Paul's? Nothing like a monk's stairmaster to make your butt hurt. ;-) I was dumb and wore a wool sweater when I did it. Not a good idea.
ReplyDeleteImpressive buildings, yes. The climb up to the top made me dizzy: so much turning and turning and then more turning - but absolutely worth it.
DeleteIt was funny, I was in the washroom before we did the climb and a woman my age came in and was sweating and cursing the heat and I really didn't think it was that hot, but I came to realize that she had likely just done the climb.
As for you in a wool sweater? You deserve either a badge of honor or a badge of idiocy for that one, LOL.
Tomorrow it's supposed to be 29 degrees here. The heat is epic. Everyone's surprised by it. 29!!!
I definitely earned myself the Badge of Idiocy that day, but it was worth the view at the top.
ReplyDeleteAlso, 29 degrees is insane. You're about to miss out on some epic hot weather here, too. Humidex of 33 on Wednesday. I'll be hiding in a bathtub full of ice with a 12 pack of beer that day.
