Spring has sprung

Where did my four day weekend go?  I was excited for it for so long and it's rapidly coming to a close.
Went for dinner with R at Rockford since they offer naturally raised beef burgers, and I've just passed the zenith of my training so could do with a little red meat.
Saturday we had an Easter dinner of sorts at my mom's, with Ed and my Nana in attendance, as well as my aunt, her daughter and her granddaughter who is the first great-grandchild in our family (and who just turned 20, amazingly).
Sunday I attempted to get some downhill training in.  It wasn't pretty.  There was a lot of walking, sweating and swearing involved.  Running in North Van works like this: you can run down, but then you have to end your run coming up.  Or you can run up, so you can end your run coming down.  Or you can just be a total moron and run up and down and then up again.
I ran in Kits a lot this time around, because it's flat and because sometimes I just like to be surrounded by runners that are all shirtless, or wearing Lululemon/Under Armour, and expensive looking headbands.
After the run Michael and I went to check out Harbourside Park which is in a really odd location in North Van and that we didn't know existed.  It's nice how they hide parks on us like that.  It's hard to get to and it needs some cleaning up, but the views from the small tower there are of the Lions, both the bridges and East Van.  It's also next to some industries, which adds to the whole "working waterfront" aspect of North Van, though one has to wonder about the cleanliness of the ocean in the immediate area.
After we forayed down a strange road in Deep Cove that Michael discovered on his bike last year.  It ends at a public dock, but it is so steep and winding to get there it's almost like a little haven all on its own, which is probably why everyone looked so perplexed at our presence.
To continue the park theme, we then went to Cates Park - which our buddy Dave maintains (he carved our initials in a stump there...awwww...) - and came across a large Persian gathering with very loud music.  I'm guessing wedding?  I felt bad because I forgot my hookah.  And Michael was like "You idiot.  I can't believe you forgot your hookah again".
(Brief religious history lesson here: Easter weekend was the weekend that Jesus came up with the idea of painting hens' eggs and then getting children to search for them, after smoking his hookah.  One of his disciples - Apple, Zippo or Metronome - had switched out the flavoured tobacco for some primo BC bud, and that is when the giant white rabbit came to him, instructing him on the appropriate usage of pastel water-colored paints.)
Then we wrapped up our weekend with some burritos.
Yeah: you think I'm kidding, but I'm actually not.
