So, obviously I have taken reams of awesome photos of our travels, but my technology is not iPad compatible so the photos will have to wait until my return.
I must say that, in the past, travelling with a notebook has been awesome as a way to document our travels as we go, resplendent with photos. Not so much this time.
We got into Philly today. Weird place . I thought Toronto had fucked up their waterfront, but Philadelphia's waterfront is an utter abomination. It is actually depressing on a city planning level, an aesthetic level and a shared, communal level. It is a tragic missed opportunity. Michael said look to Boston and the "big dig" that put the roadways underground, but Philly is a pretty depressed place so I don't think the waterfront situation is going to change any time soon.
Checked into our hotel, wandered around, had dinner at the Khyber Pass (fun times showing up for dinner at a place where beers are a buck fifty from four until six).
Tomorrow we are heading to Boathouse Row, and the LOVE sculpture, which looks to be a very cool area.
I can't actually remember what Philly's waterfront looks like now - I keep getting it mixed up in my head with Baltimore's. I hope a really great cheese steak will make up for it (at least a little).
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to seeing some pictures!
Yeah, they really blew it on that front, otherwise it's an interesting place. Great food and nice public spaces, though going through some hard times.
ReplyDeleteI've got tons of great pics, unfortunately they'll have to wait until I am reunited with my laptop...
