I HATE WAITING IN LINES

Waterfront Park
We woke up around 6:30 this morning, (3:30 PST) but ended up sleeping until almost 11am.  It was nice to feel human again.  Unfortunately this meant that brunch at Toast would take a lot longer than we wanted - especially given that it was Mother's Day.  The wait was perhaps 45 minutes, but it was excellent and we both got to try grits and fried green tomatoes for the first time (FGT are great, grits are boring).  A very amazing (and filling) brunch with excellent service - can definitely see why it made the NY Times.
A really big house.
Thankfully, when we came back to the hotel our luggage had arrived.  When they told us where our luggage was and I walked into the room, I saw a red bag that looked like mine but wasn't mine and I initially thought "THEY BROUGHT THE WRONG BAG", but I was just looking THE WRONG WAY and all was well.  Gah.  Nice to have fresh undies, toothpaste and PJs.
Afterwards we toured The Market, and then walked over to Waterfront Park and White Point Gardens.  At the market we saw handmade sweetgrass baskets and tons of artisan crafts.  Walking along the seawall we saw incredible houses and had a view of the Arthur Ravenel Bridge.  We also saw pelicans (we'd never seen them before), and dolphins in the harbour.  The seawall was lined with palm trees and used by cyclists, joggers and tourists: it was a stellar day to be out.
Our dollar at the Griffon!
Michael picked up some sundries at a local grocery store, and then for dinner we went to The Griffon (check out their 360 degree view) where every available space in the bar is covered in US dollar bills that people have written personal messages on.  We wrote our own.
Tomorrow we hope to do a horse-drawn tour of the city, go to the Aquarium, and walk over the Arthur Ravenel Bridge which is supposed to have amazing views.
Additional aside: the people here are super, super friendly.  We have likely had the best service here that we have had in all our travels, ever - it's unnerving.
And apparently this is what frogs (or something) sound like in Charleston:
