Budget update/Tybee Island news

From Budget today:

Dear xxx,
Thank you for contacting the E-mail Customer Service team.
We appreciate you taking the time to apprise us of the difficulties you encountered at this facility and apologize most sincerely for the inconvenience you were caused.  We take our commitment to have the vehicle reserved available at the location and time reserved very seriously.  To learn that we have failed to meet this commitment is perhaps as disappointing for us as it must have been for you.
While we are happy to learn that you were able to obtain a vehicle from our location, we are not dismissing the obligation of the reservation.By way of compensation for the delays we caused, we have issued a credit to your open rental contract in the amount of $50.00.  Since your rental is currently still open you can still exchange this vehicle at any Budget location that has a smaller size car if you wish.
Again, we appreciate your informing us of this incident and have forwarded a report to our Quality Assurance Department as well as the District Manager.

Sincerely,
Nathan Kelly Customer Service Representative
I'll certainly wait for the credit to come through on our credit card, but it was nice to be taken seriously.

In other news, today we took a drive out to Tybee Island and checked out the Tybee Lighthouse and Battery Garland.  The lighthouse was easily accessible and afforded great views of the area.  Also, the surrounding support buildings had been restored wonderfully, especially the main house where the lighthouse keeper and his family lived.
It was a very, very blustery day on the beach which was actually kind of neat.  The red "danger" flag was flying, but people were still heading out to go surfing and kite-boarding - even body-surfing.  Unfortunately the little town that was there, which we were hoping would be full of cool indie shops and cafes, was more like Grand Bend, Ontario ( a bunch of tourist shops and bars - though in GA you're legally allowed to walk down the street with your drink).
For dinner we went to the Crystal Beer Parlour.  Our meals were pretty average, but their beer list was incredible!  I've never seen anything like it.  I'm not a beer person and don't typically drink beer, but I always do in the States because they have so many amazing micro breweries.  I tried a Mole Spiced Porter which tasted like chocolate, with a spicy kick to finish, and Michael tried a Banana Split Chocolate Stout.  Seriously.  I can't believe their beer selection or what can be done with beer.
That wrapped up today, and tomorrow we're doing a walking tour of Savannah.

  1. I wish we'd had more time on Tybee. Don't you just want to send the email back to them corrected in red like a 7th grade Grammar teacher?
