The bad idea bears

Yeah.  Been a while, it seems.  Kind of went off the rails a little bit and it appears that I need to have a bit more structure in my life which is why I'm drinking wine at 11:40pm and blogging.
Structure.
Structure.
Say it with me.  Roll it around on your tongue.
This weekend was fun, though.  It was my mom's 65th birthday on Saturday and so we took her to see "Avenue Q".  If you live in Vancouver and you have like $35, it's the best $35 you'll spend.  It's an excellent show and musical and the actors in Vancouver are incredible.  It's a hilarious story about a bunch of post college people trying to find the meaning of life.  Plus the theme song is that the internet is for porn.  Seriously laugh out loud funny.
Perhaps the best part of the play are the "bad idea bears" that come to offer totally horrific advice in really high pitched voices at inopportune times.  For example, today they came to me today and said:

  • You can totally make it from Fort Langley to North Vancouver with your gas light indicating "empty"!
  • It's okay to talk about attempting to implement structure in your life, as long as you stay up late and have wine to celebrate!
  • Sunscreen is for jerks!
  • After a hard day of doing SFA, you deserve to watch another episode of "Orange is the New Black"!
I love those bears.
Anywho, after "Avenue Q" my brother and his partner came over with The Cutest Baby in the World.  I held him again.  I'm getting better at it.  Man he is one cute baby, and I'm not partial to babies.  And well behaved.  I like this kid.
Today we got up at 4am because that's a fun thing to do.  I drove Michael out to Fort Langley to do another Granfondo.  I was on the fence about doing my second Medio and I ended up not doing it and you know what? I shouldn't have listened to the bad idea bears because I'd rather bike the 88 kilometres in 3 hours and 45 minutes instead of WANDERING AROUND FORT LANGLEY FROM SEVEN AM UNTIL PAST NOON.
Holy shit.  I will never do that again.
And then naturally he was sort of later than I expected so you start doing the whole "did he get a flat" or "was he in an accident" dance on the sidelines which is awesome (though not as awesome as the Prospera Credit Union bear that just freaked the hell out of this little toddler: seriously, she screamed every time he came near).
I was so, so, SO glad to see Michael coming around the final corner this afternoon.  I love that he is passionate about it and that he's in such epic shape.
While I am slightly jealous that he got another "event" under his belt, I am always happy that he is out there and doing it and pushing it.and it makes me want to get out there as well, whether "out there: means trail running, or halfs or swimming or medios.
Wrapping up: there is some structure this week.  We have dinner with an ex-coworker to
morrow, and then it gets increasingly busy from there.
Who knew?

  1. Bears haven't scared me near as bad as that loud beeeeeep at the beginning of your video. Damn! You should have warned me. I'm officially unemployed! Thanks for the inspiration, too bad it couldn't have been for something that would get me off my arse. I'm going to start working on my list of good Breakfast Wines, got any to suggest?

  2. Yeah, that beep scared me when it happened too. Nothing should ever be that loud at 7am on a Sunday.

Congratulations on your unemployment! How do you feel? How did your employer take it? Did they ask for a reason or try and change your mind?

I'll let you know if I come across any good breakfast wines. ;)
