On surprising things that have surprised me recently

Michael's been sick for the last week.  Wednesday and Thursday were especially bad and I knew he was really sick because he wasn't complaining about it, just silently suffering through it as he so often talks about, but rarely actually does.
So I was surprised when (knock on wood) I didn't get it.  My mom is sick, as is my sister in law and people in the office.  Me?  Queen of Tonsilitis and Empress of the Upper Respiratory Infection?  I seem to have dodged this one.  How does that work?
Another surprise was that when Michael and I were leafing through a top 10 list of music from Time magazine, one of the picks was Azealia Banks and it's kind of funny because I rummaged through that mag in Penticton over xmas and it wasn't until Rolling Stones said she was one of the top 100 albums of the year that I gave her a listen and bought it.  She recently released a free song which I have downloaded and, again, I like.
If she were a stock, I would buy like the first stock that I ever bought recently: RIM.  Yep, I'm banking on the BB10 and (surprisingly) the stock has already climbed since I bought it and yeah, maybe it'll tank after the release, but I hate iPhones and think that other people hate iPhones too and they'll prop RIM up and then I'll be a millionaire.  With the 20 shares I bought.

Not sure about the rampant use of "nigger", however.  I'm never quite sure how to approach this, as a white chick, kinda like the Samuel L. Jackson interview.  Can I say it?  The one black person I know is married and has a son and is a highschool teacher so I'm having a hard time getting my bearings on this.
I was surprised that Michael went willingly to a soiree at Po's place recently.  It was over an hour to get there, he's not a super social guy and he's allergic to cats, and Po has a really puffy one.  I was just so happy that he was there and I do think a good time was had by all.
Additionally surprising was my run today which I wasn't supposed to do but I did anyways because I really do have a significant race coming up and they ran 10 miles today and I only ran 6 miles, and slowly at that.  I have a sneaking suspicion that my physio knows me better than I think and so she says I can't run for a week when she really only wants me to not run for three days and she knows I'll cave and start running and... addictive personality says what now?  I feel fine after my six miles and I did all my physio exercises like a good girl.  We'll see what she says tomorrow.
Another surprising thing has been Michael's increased affection.  Yesterday he took my car (which was low on gas) and filled up it ($45) and took it through the car wash and also vacuumed the interior and he wasn't happy with the car wash and so he bought cleaning materials and tried to make the car even more immaculate.
Also I have hickies on my neck, currently.
Another surprising discovery has been Cat Power's "Sun" album which was also recommended by Rolling Stone (and also had a shout out in the Tragically Hip's "Coffee Girl") and the album is really, fucking amazing.  It's like a mix of Feist, David Bowie and Florence and the Machine.
So. 2013: let's do this.
