So then we go to bed, sober, at 11pm because that's what runners do when they have to get up at 6:50 so they can drive to Park Royal and then run from West Van to freaking Science World and back again. Neither of us slept. Michael was worried about his (potential) impending office closure and I was worried about the run.
My runs to date haven't been great since coming back from post tib tendonitis (followed by my SI joints getting totally fucked, and then followed again by a bad cold that sidelined me for a few days). Not the start one would hope for when training for one of the big five marathons. I ran with my normal pace group again but it felt hard to maintain the pace. Or maybe I always laboured that hard and I just don't remember that I did, but 14 miles shouldn't have made me have a nap like what we both did this afternoon. I don't know. All I can do is work harder on my nutrition, drink less, sleep more and step up the cross training.

Fell behind of the group when I needed a pee break and ended up running it in with a couple. The wife was a wee bit beleaguered, it came out, because she had been out a bit late with the librarian that used to run my book club. Small world, much?
Had a coffee in a standing room only Delaney's and then went shopping at Park Royal. Nothing says "I really could not give a shit" like running 14 miles, not being able to wash the salt off your face because there are no paper towels in the bathroom, and hobbling around the mall in most affluent city in Canada in sandy sneakers and sweatpants.
Then we watched Whitney Cummings' stand up routine and it was like watching myself on stage for 45 minutes. I shit you not. I love her show on TV, "Whitney", but maybe 20 minutes into her routine I was like "this is just like me talking to myself". It was eerie. She's totally hilarious and her show is brilliant, but her stand up routine was familiar. She would so fit in at any of our family dinners.
Um. yeah. Now I'm enjoying (vastly) some Gnarly Head Cabernet Sauvignon which my mom picked up for $10 in the States but is twice that up here because BC refuses to subsidize my alcoholism.
Bastards.
It was a good weekend. Gotta get in better shape. Enjoyed my fellow runners. Love Michael especially much today because he made me a grilled cheese sandwich.
Also Tiger Woods is leading going into tomorrow.
Boo yah.
Be sure to remind me to bring you cases of wine when I say that I'm driving to Canada. I'll do it!
