I'm not sure why.
First off would be L & L who, for the record, are always doing cool things like composting, creating community gardens, and most importantly: dehydrating fruit. Here is a link to their most recent endeavor: to put two Nepali children through school. If, like me, you would like an opportunity to purchase a jacket you can go to www.jacketsforjasper.com.
Secondly, I received my birthday gift a little early yesterday. It was a pachyderm. And we're already having issues with space in our one bedroom condo to begin with.
Michael donated on my behalf to the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust so we could sponsor Chemi Chemi, an orphaned baby, and his reintegration back into the wild. Apparently Michael saw a blurb about this organization and was reduced to tears and, aware of my increasing disdain for useless materialism (that's right: you're all getting donations to charities for Christmas), recognized that this was the perfect gift.
I particularly like this picture of Chemi Chemi as the caption on it is "Chemi Chemi drinking by himself" which absolutely proves that the large, leathery apple with giant ears doesn't fall far from the tree.
It's all so happy making, isn't it?
Awww I love that! You should keep a picture of it on the fridge, and one in your wallet and one on your desk.... a locket!!! I would.
ReplyDeleteQuiet a few years ago our office staff was given a card from the Heifer Organization stating that 6 chickens had been donated in our names to a village in Africa. I was ecstatic! It was the first time I'd ever heard of such a thing. I was tired of getting dollar store coffee mugs with snowmen on them. The secretary at the time curled her lip and turned up her nose and said "this sucks... what are we supposed to do with this?" I had her pegged as a bitch the day they hired her in August, this confirmed it.
That's so cool.
DeleteChristmas is definitely the time where one accumulates much unneeded crap.
That's funny how you pegged her, LOL.
She was one of the biggest bitches I've ever met (she's no longer with us... at work, she was let go.) I can spot them, my sister says 'it takes one to know one'. She's a bitch too, lol!
ReplyDeleteWow, jomomma, what a jerk that secretary is! I'd be very pleased to be to have some chickens donated in my name! Good job on spotting the bitch in your office... (and really, what would she have done with that dollar store mug?).
ReplyDeleteAlso, Chemi Chemi is adorable, and I hope he soon has some buddies to drink with. ;-)
Thanks Renee, you know bitches, it's all about them and all about their stuff.
