Kicked off with sushi at Hachi Hana. Sorry. Hachi Hana wins over all other sushi joints. Tied for second place: Sushi Nami; Bella Sushi and Honjin. All others fail and should commit seppuku. Okay maybe that's a little harsh.
We rented "Moonrise Kingdom" which - in my mind - was going to be the best movie ever, but we were both totally unimpressed by it. I don't get movies wrong often, but this one stumped us. We even went to Rotten Tomatoes and the critics gave it 94% and the audience gave it 89% and I gave it, like, 65%.
Maybe it was fate: the last movie we rented that had a Coppola involved in it ("Somewhere") failed to impress but at least started a pretty decent post-movie dialogue.
Saturday. Saturday. We slept in. We went for a run. We moved our bikes to my place. I met up with R and we went to Rogue. We kind of forgot it was Hallowe'en and so we were so privileged as to see a slutty nurse, a slutty devil, a slutty peacock and a slutty butterfly. Oh, we women have come so far, haven't we?
Today we went for brunch at Fray with Big D. Man, but it was a happening place. It was good, but what's with the lack of free range eggs? Very disappointing as I was definitely wanting to have a go at their smoked salmon eggs Benedict, but winded up having the lemon cream cheese infused Cornflake crusted french toast instead. Woe is me.
Then we went to Park Royal and I bought two more of the same two sweaters that I bought last Monday.
Look: I hate shopping. Most clothes are stupid. These sweaters were cheap, fit me adequately, and came in different colors so I don't need to think about what to wear every goddamn day. Fashion is NOT my strong suit. I also bought two steaks. Not at the same store where I bought the sweaters, though.
Then we went for a nice five mile walk to enjoy the fact that we currently aren't experiencing torrential rains (though this recent earthquake deal has got me a little concerned) and we tried to figure out how to get the video on Michael's camera to work.
The steaks (free range, Alberta) were awesome. Michael was a little unnerved at how quickly I ate mine.
With my hands, yet.
Also we officially gave our notice at Michael's apartment today, so it's a done deal: we are moving into my digs in the next month.
I hate shopping, I wish I could have a personal shopper. The french toast sounds excellent. Now that you've put notice on Micheal's place someone with give you an offer on your place that you can't refuse.
ReplyDeleteActually, I took it off the market yesterday so it's a done deal. Or an undone deal. Or no deal at all.
DeleteSomething like that.
I could be your personal shopper, but you would just be the recipient of five of the same sweaters from Old Navy, in different colors.
Amelia Earhart would be a great costume! But, can you make it a slutty A.E.? ;-)
ReplyDeleteUh, is there any other type of Amelia Earhart? Is there any other type of any female based character at Hallowe'en, full stop? LOL.
DeleteWeird bit, though? A cool chick in Advocacy dressed up as (regular) Amelia today. How random!
I'm dressed up as myself, wearing an Old Navy t-shirt and jeans and I'm ignoring the knocking at the door. And yes, I dress pretty slutty, did you know that Old Navy has a Fredrick's of Hollywood section?
