Meat sweats

Today we headed out to Abbotsford to watch my brother's Supermoto races.  It was very fast paced and exciting and there was a great camaraderie amongst all the riders on the track.  At one point there was a "mini moto" race with a kid riding that must've been 8 years old.  The other adult riders (riding small bikes) all trailed behind him and let him win, while hamming it up on the tiny bikes.
Jay placed 3rd twice, and got clipped  in the middle race and had to replace his clutch lever which snapped off.  It was interesting how everyone was keen to help him even though he was competing against some of them, and they all pitched in to help him get his bike ready for the next race, even holding the race a little so he could compete.
His last race was the most exciting as he slipped from fourth to third place in the very last lap and managed to hang on, crossing over the finish line while I jumped up and down like an idiot.  It was pretty thrilling to watch; definitely worlds apart from our running and bicycling lives.
Afterwards we went to the Baron Bar and Grill where both Michael and Jay ordered the Ultimate Monster Burger, which is described on the menu as "(we dare you to eat it all) double the beef, cheddar, jack, mozza, bacon, chorizo, fried egg, onion straws and sautéed mushrooms and onions all stacked up into the ultimate tower. finish this monster and receive the pen".
And so they both, heroically (grossly) rose to the challenge.  Then somehow our attention was diverted from Michael for a few minutes, we looked back at him and lo, the burger was gone.  I couldn't believe it.  I know my brother has the ability to pack away large amounts of unhealthy food from time to time, but Michael surprised us all.  I guess I haven't been feeding him enough, lately.  That plus his 70+ mile bike ride yesterday, surely.
Definitely a fun day in the valley, and always nice to support people doing what they love and to be able to catch up with family.

  1. Awww, that reminds me of when we used to race go-karts. I'd be changing the sprocket on a kart while hubby was racing and all the other racers would come to my rescue.

  2. It's always so nice when people don't suck, isn't it?

  3. Did you check Michael for tapeworm? Could be a tapeworm - there's no other explanation for getting a burger than size all on the inside. ;-)

Did they get the pen for completing the Colon Blocking Challenge?

  4. Oh yes, they both got the pen (which my brother promptly affixed to his face, per the photo). I think the pen stuck due to the meat sweats.

  5. You know, I didn't even notice the pen until you mentioned it in your comment. I guess I need to either have my eyes tested, or get a CAT scan. ;-)

  6. Only my brother could make that look natural, LOL.
