But yesterday we did go to the mall to enjoy the air conditioning. And I had been looking for a bathing suit and ended up buying one and I'm really all about instant gratification and so we then went and bought a towel, headed to the beach and I went swimming in the ocean. It's - oddly - been years since I swam in the ocean. It took a lot of flattering comments from Michael (to be read: lies) to get me to drop the towel and go for it, but once I was in it was so much goddamn fun.
Today we went for ride out to and along the Seymour Demo Forest and past it, even, to the fish hatchery.
Interesting note: the fish have hatched already. Duh.

We came back, showered and picked up my mom en route to visit my Nana and Ed in their new place. After that we celebrated her belated birthday with a bunch of dirty hippies at the Naam.
I'm not saying "best weekend ever" but yeah... it was pretty close to the best weekend ever.
And I do recommend watching Howl, with James Franco. I don't much rage about the state of the world's affairs anymore because it's very easy to be an armchair cynic and if you're that passionate about something you should likely do something about it and here I am splashing about in the ocean and cycling all over hell's half acre instead. But it's people like Allen Ginsberg and Gore Vidal that help me to believe that there is a counter culture to current presidential candidates with predilections towards Olympic Dressage.

It's also easy to be an armchair revolutionary, especially when it's a comfy chair, with pillows, and perhaps a spot of tea.
