I haven't run for five days and it's showing

Last night I did laps for an hour.  They weren't pretty, my form is poor, I need a bathing cap and the people in the moderate and fast lanes were shooting disdainful and disparaging looks at my back (I didn't see them do this, but I could just tell) and I thought whatever; we all have to start somewhere.
Ironman kicks off with a 3.9 kilometre swim and a cut off of 2 hours and 20 minutes.  I lost count of the number of laps I did, but conservatively I think I swam 2 kilometres in that hour.  My goal is to be able to swim four kilometres without stopping within the Ironman cutoff time, by the end of the year.
I've done the marathon distance nine times, so obviously I'm comfortable with that.
Did you know the bike distance is 180km?  I think my max to date is 60km and that involved repeatedly stopping for coffee and snacks which I am quite sure is not par for the Ironman course.
I don't know why you're talking like this, Duder.  I really don't.
Just work on the tendonitis, will you?
I hope I get the green light to run next month because not having a race looming on the horizon is almost as panic inducing (and pent-up energy creating) as not being able to run.  I can't believe I haven't been in a race since October.  October.
Longest.  Hiatus.  Ever.
