AHHHHHHHH! CAFFEINE!!!!

I ran 8 miles on Monday because I'm an idiot (I go to the doctor's on Monday for my ongoing ankle issue) and, as I was flying - yes! flying! - down St. Andrews I noticed that the coffee shop in the crazy, antique, turquoise building was open for business.
I've run by this building for years and, aside from the rather off-putting colour, I always thought it was really funky and it would be fun to fix it up.  And now someone has bought it and is doing just that: very cool!
I informed Michael that it was open for business and he opined that he would like to do a coffee house tour one of these weekends and check out the aforementioned cafe (called Andrew's on 8th) and also S'wich cafe which is another indie, relatively new coffee shop a handful of blocks over (the owner worked at a lot of very high end restaurants in Vancouver and I totally want to go back there and try one of their gourmet sandwiches).
Today we got up and had some really strong coffee.  I couldn't finish my second cup it was so strong.  Michael joked that he made Americanos.  Jesus.  Anyways, after finishing our coffee we headed over to Andrew's on 8th and it was busy which is always nice to see for a local start up.  What did we get?  Americanos.  Yeah.  Plus we each had a scone.  Great reno, cool addition to our neighbourhood, beautiful space.
Then we went over to S'wich.  By this time we were both jitterbugging and practically talking over one another and repeating ourselves a lot, and making a lot of erratic hand gestures.  We passed by a school that was celebrating it's 100th anniversary and I almost ran into the bouncy castle and pushed all the kids out so I could bounce off the walls.  At S'wich Michael ordered a regular coffee but the barrista said she'd have to make a new pot or she would just make him... an Americano instead.  He chose the Americano.  And bought a "beautiful bar" which ended up, beautifully, in my stomach.
We vibrated home and Michael screamed "this was the best afternoon ever!" and I said "hold that thought while I run around the block for three hours!".
Then I gently suggested that, since he had so much energy, he should go to my place and get my regular tires out of storage and load them into my car so I can't get my winter tires swapped off on Monday and he said he would.
He's so lovely.
We're going to crash any minute now.

  1. LOL I want to do that, I probably won't run around the block, but I could clean house! A coffee house tour sounds fun, I may have to get my sister on board that one. We get Americano at home daily, Jody calls it a Milky Whirl because he adds a little cream after he's stirred the sugar and it whirls around.

  2. That's a strong cuppa joe. I can't handle it the Michael does, that's for sure. I like my coffee, yes, but I'm more of a tea person I think.
There's something about a coffee high, though...
