Arrival

We were worried about the flight to Boston given that we were flying Air Canada but, with the exception of a one hour delay at Pearson, we made it to Boston successfully.
Checked into the Hilton and took the recommendation of a guy at the desk for dinner at a sports bar just behind the hotel and afterwards checked out Faneuil Hall.  Busy with runners and tourists and nicely lit up for a warm April night.
I wasn’t tired so I went to the lobby bar and had a few drinks while reading “The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks”, which is a supremely fascinating book that I had a hard time putting down.  Maybe reading it in some hip wine bar was nerdy, but that’s what I am.  I even switched my “wedding ring” to the correct finger to deflect the rampant come ons that were surely going to come my way.
Cough.
The next day we slept in a bit and went for our package pickup which wasn’t where it was in 2009 and involved a bus ride out to the convention centre.  Hard to even move there as usual so I just checked out some video footage and interviews of the Boston Marathon while Michael bought his Boston jacket and a lot of other stuff.  He drew the line at the Boston Marathon treadmill, only because of the expense we would have to incur to ship it home.
Michael then decided (wisely) to put his feet up, so I went to find the Golden Goose market to pick up some sundries so we didn’t have to eat out morning, noon and night.  I discovered a really cool part of Boston that we missed three years ago.
Went for a beer and dinner at a local Irish pub with great live music and then turned in for a night of fitful sleeping before the big day.
