Three years

I ran Boston three years ago with Michael.  Okay, not "with" but rather slightly behind.  Regardless, we stayed in Boston for almost a week and really enjoyed it.
One of the highlights, aside from the awesome transit system, friendly people, great beer, Red Sox game, and the 26.2 miles we ran with 500,000 people out to cheer us on (god I love Boston), was an exhibit at the Boston Institute for Contemporary Art.
Tonight we watched The Simpsons, as we rather routinely do, and it featured Banksy, and Shepard Fairey whose exhibit we had been so awed by that we both bought t-shirts in the gift shop (as we exited, yes).  A few months later I would purchase an autographed Obey poster for Michael's birthday.
I've always loved The Simpson and this was just heightened tonight with their show (on Rupert Murdoch's dime, no less).
I appreciate Shepard Fairey and Banksy immensely because they have the skills and the artistry and they are using them to make a political statement in an era of reality television and apathy and political ignorance,
For this I respect them tremendously.
I'm so proud of The Simpsons for tonight's episode.  I'm so glad that there are people like Fairey and Banksy out there, working from the ground up to affect change.
