Last week the Port Mann bridge was closed because of a fatality on the bridge: a 50 year old woman was killed. Traffic was backed up for miles and it took people hours to get home that night. From the news reports we gleaned that the woman had either been in an accident or her car stalled and, upon exiting her vehicle, she was struck and killed.
Now it is emerging that what she did was intentional. She stopped her vehicle and walked out into busy highway traffic and was struck by a rig. And I think: what was going on in this woman's life that for her the answer was to commit suicide in such a public and horrific fashion?
I need to get more sleep.
And yogurt.
