On my epic day of awesomeness Part Two:Osoyoos

Continuing on to Osoyoos I was also kind of like "what?".  I was hoping for expansive beaches and groovy cafés and it was really pretty limited.  The waterfront was rather dominated by the Watermark Resort which is why I ended up at Jojo's Café for lunch (I recommend the veggie sandwich; the service was fantastic and it was a pretty happening place).
Onwards to Nk'mip's cultural centre and wine tasting.  As a rather avid wine drinker I must say I only ever remember drinking their wine one time.  I had heard the cultural centre there was good and so, in blazing heat, I went.
If you're in Osoyoos?  Go to the Nk'mip cultural centre. I was too late in the day for any of the guided tours unfortunately, but I enjoyed my visit there thoroughly.  They've spent a lot of money on this and it is a great, informative, educational experience.  They are stewards of the land and it was unnerving and tragic to read about the way they have been treated.
There were a lot of signs warning about rattle snakes, which was awesome because I was wearing Speedo flipflops and so I basically figured my death was imminent.  I have never been so aware of every single sound as I was today.  On top of this, it was goddamn hot.  I had a bottle of water with me and I was coming to the end of it and sort of wondering what might happen if one was struck by a rattler or passed out due to the heat.
Well, after I returned unscathed, I overheard the employee there telling a guest that someone had indeed passed out on the interpretive hike and now they do routine "sweeps" to make sure no one is in distress.
Sweaty and disheveled I made it to the wine tasting bar (WHITE PEOPLE PROBLEMS) and damn do they have nice wine.  Their price point is high and, after the gentleman behind the bar offered me a glass of water due to what was probably very evident sweat stains, I did try their Pinot Blanc which I normally don't care about, and then their 100% oaked Chardonnay (I'm all about the oak) I took one of each.  I was driving so wasn't able to sample much more than that, but I can give a thumbs up to both of the wines that I tried: they were excellent.  They are a very heavily awarded winery and I can see why.
Came home, changed and did a 10k on the KVR out past Hillside Estates and back.  Nice to get moving again on account of my overall and massive fatness.  God I hate being fat.  It drive me insane and yet food and wine is so enjoyable.
Talked to Michael on Google Voice about any number of things but mostly RS's most recent article by Matt Taibbi.
If, like me, you're still fucking outraged by the antics of Wall Street and the lack of the tightening of regulations surrounding what was a GLOBAL financial crisis in which NO ONE WENT TO JAIL, I highly recommend this article about the role of the rating agencies in this epic fucking mess that cost me and you and all of your friends and family up to 40% of their portfolio.
I love, love, love how this has fallen from the headlines.  How are peoples' attention spans so short?  It's YOUR MONEY FOR FUCK'S SAKE.
If you have ANY money in the market, you're an idiot not to read this article.
Anyways.  I want to move here and live here forever.
